Abstract
With the expansion of economics imperialism, many “non-market” or “non-economic” propositions are increasingly being incorporated into the scope of economic research. At the same time, other fields of humanities and social sciences are also increasingly adopting economic methods to study their own propositions. This trend has already extended to the fields of philosophy, metaphysics, religion, and theology, and will undoubtedly influence the development of Chinese theology. From the perspective of modern economics, whether it concerns the concepts and interpretations of meaning at the metaphysical level or the order and institutions at the practical level, all are spontaneous orders, which are diverse and evolving. The uniqueness of languages and religions (with their theologies) lies in the fact that they exist on both the conceptual and the practical levels; however, this uniqueness does not preclude their diversity and evolutionary nature. Consequently, Chinese theology will face multiple missions: providing a theological interpretation specific to the Chinese context, a universal theological interpretation for the Christian world, and a general theological interpretation applicable across religions.
